Characteristics of camel wool duvets

Is it normal for a camel wool duvet to have a specific smell? Absolutely! Here's why.
When you get a new camel wool duvet, you may notice a subtle, specific smell. Before you worry, know that this is completely normal and, in fact, is often a sign of the originality and naturalness of the product.
Natural scent – a sign of authenticity
Camel wool, just like sheep wool or any other natural material of animal origin, has a characteristic odor. This odor comes from:
* Lanolin and natural oils: Although camel wool has less lanolin than sheep wool, it still contains natural fats and oils that are part of its structure. These oils are essential for maintaining the softness and properties of the wool.
* Processing: Wool undergoes cleaning and processing, but not all of the natural compounds that are responsible for its performance are ever removed. Intensive chemical treatment could damage the fibers and reduce their quality. Therefore, a mild odor is actually evidence that the wool has been minimally processed and has retained its natural properties.
How to get rid of odors? Time and fresh air are your allies!
The good news is that this natural scent is not permanent and will fade away completely over time. Here are some tips to speed up the process:
* Thorough airing: This is the most important step. Once you receive your duvet, spread it out in a well-ventilated area. Ideally, it should be outdoors, but not in direct sunlight (although brief exposure to UV rays can help neutralize odors). A balcony, patio, or well-ventilated room with open windows is perfect. Let it air out for a few hours, or even a few days if necessary, turning it over occasionally.
* Regular use and airing of the bed: During daily use, the body releases heat and the duvet is constantly aired out. Also, regularly airing the bedroom and changing the bedding will help the smell disappear faster.
* Patience: Be patient. Sometimes it takes a few days, sometimes weeks, for the scent to completely dissipate. This depends on individual sensitivity to scents and the intensity of the initial scent.
The smell of your new camel wool duvet is not a drawback, but a reminder that you are holding a natural, authentic and high-quality product in your hands. Enjoy its warmth and comfort, knowing that the faint scent will soon fade, leaving you with nothing but pure luxury and a peaceful sleep.
